100 years of hard work and constancy ‒ BERG celebrates pleasant company anniversary

Exactly 100 years after the Berg & Co. GmbH was founded, the family business celebrated its anniversary on November the 27^th with around 50 guests from business and politics as well as long-time company friends and neighbours.

In his welcoming speech our managing director Mr. Klaus Wehmeyer complimented the company’s path having become a modern manufacturer of clamping systems with over 6.000 customers and business partners all over the world. He thanked the people who have contributed to this success over the years, but also pointed out the challenges the company is facing in the view of increasing automation and digitisation of industrial production.

Afterwards shareholder Dietrich B. Grautoff provides personal insights into the history of the company, which is closely linked to his family history.

After having emphasized the strong loyalty to the location and the inventive spirit of family businesses like BERG, Mr. Wolf D. Meier-Scheuven, president of local chamber of industry and commerce, handed over the anniversary certificate. Then the evening headed for its festive highlight: the presentation of the bronze Leineweber (linen weaver) statue by senior mayor Mr. Pit Clausen.

Only companies existing for 100 years and have been founded in Bielefeld receive this award from the city of Bielefeld. It sums up constancy and diligence. According to the senior mayor BERG Spanntechnik is an example of the successful combination of tradition and progress.

The last performance of an atmospheric celebration belonged to musician and author Hans-Jörg Kühne who presented his anniversary book “Die BERG-Story” and inspired the guests with an entertaining cross-section of the BERG history.

The next 100 years will certainly be just as exciting as the past. We are definitely prepared!
